Delete your account and data
Last updated 6 August 2026
This page covers both the ShiftAnchor website at shiftanchor.org and the ShiftAnchor Android app, which shows the same service and the same account.
How to request deletion
Email shift.anchor.support@gmail.com from the address on the account, with the subject “Account deletion request”. Include the business name, and say whether you are an employee or the account owner.
We reply to confirm it is really you before anything is deleted, then action it within 30 days. There is no charge, and you do not need an active subscription.
If you are an employee
Your employer administers the account and decides what employment information it holds — so the fastest route is to ask them to remove you. They can do that themselves from the Employees page.
You do not have to go through them. Email us directly and we will handle the request, and tell your employer only what we must in order to action it.
Removing you from the schedule is not the same as deleting your account. When an employer deactivates someone, the login stops working immediately but the record is kept so past shifts and signed timesheets still add up. A deletion request goes further, as below.
If you are the account owner
You can ask us to delete the entire organisation: every employee account, the schedule, the time-clock history, timesheets, requests and settings. This cannot be undone and there is no backup we will restore from afterwards, so we confirm in writing before doing it.
Cancelling a subscription does not delete anything. If you want the data gone as well, say so explicitly.
What is deleted
Your name, email address, password, phone number, pay rate, payroll ID, hire date, availability, time-off and shift requests, clock-in and clock-out records, and your access to the service.
Passwords are stored only as a bcrypt hash and are never readable by us, so there is nothing to recover once the record is gone.
We hold no payment card details at any point. Card data goes directly to Stripe and never reaches ShiftAnchor.
What is kept, and why
Signed timesheets and payroll records. Once a week is signed off it becomes a payroll record, and an employer is legally required to keep those for a period after the pay period ends. Erasing them on request would destroy an employee’s own proof of hours worked and wages owed, which is why we do not.
Those records are retained for up to 7 years, which covers the record-keeping obligations that apply to Canadian employers, and are then deleted. Where an employer is subject to a shorter or longer period, theirs governs.
Billing records. Invoices and payment history are kept for the same period for tax purposes. These are held by Stripe as well as by us.
Retained records are reduced to what the obligation actually requires — dates, hours and amounts. Contact details, availability and requests are not part of a payroll record and are removed.
Deleting the app
Uninstalling the Android app does not delete your account, because the app is a wrapper around the website and your data lives on our servers, not on the phone. Use the email route above.
